Greetings Panther Pond Members!
I hope this letter finds you all well. Spring is in the air and the pond is active with Loons & Mergansers fishing in the coves, which I will take as a sign of a healthy eco-system. We also seem to have acquired some resident geese, whose presence is not as welcome, at least by me, since they visit a bit too often (if you know what I mean !).  The Panther Pond Association has been busy with a recent By-laws amendment, which passed last week. Thank you for all that took part in the discussion and voting process. The intent of this change was to extend the opportunity to serve to a wider range of family members (next generation), in the hope to stimulate more interest becoming officers. The By-laws discussion opened our eyes to a few areas that the officers and members felt could be better defined. We are reviewing these and may be addressing in the future. For now, please remember that officer nominations will be accepted until June 28th (though we would appreciate having received these by June 15th to allow our nominating committee to share job responsibilities with the candidates before the official ballot is sent out). With the By-laws change, be aware your family now has the ability to designate your voting member status to any adult in the family and thus the ability to run for an officers position. This association is an environmental group, focused on maintaining the water quality of Panther Pond. We are in desperate need of any people who possess the scientific skills and interest to monitor the lake and the vision to see potential threats. If there is anyone in your families that has this type of interest, please encourage them to step forward !
We all love this pond and want to insure it’s here for future generations !
Please Hold the date of Saturday Aug. 13th 12:30 for the PPA Annual meeting to be held at Camp Hinds !
A copy of the amended by-laws can be found here.
Take care,
Harold Loring
President
