Volunteers:
Courtesy Boat Inspectors – As you might be aware, Courtesy Boat Inspectors (CBI's) are posted at several boat launches in the Raymond Watershed, including Mill St. on Panther Pond. Panther Pond is surrounded by lakes that contain milfoil, and luckily Panther is still milfoil free. But it may not be luck. The CBI's work hard to keep invasive plants from entering our lake. CBIs are both paid and volunteers. They are helping to ensure that our lake stays clear of milfoil and other invasive plants.
If you know of anyone that would like to work Friday, Saturday and Sundays from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. as a paid CBI please let Peggy Jensen know at info@raymondwaterways.org. If you would like to volunteer for a briefer stint - days, a day, or a few hours, that would be very helpful, please contact Peggy. Training and equipment will be provided.
Panther Pond Invasive Plant Patrollers (Ppippers) – Bunny Wescott and Sibyl French lead the Panther Pond invasive plant inspector program. These two dedicated women will go out and teach you everything you need to know about invasive plants and convince you that you are having fun. You can get your very own sector to inspect. Interested? Reach out to them: Sibyl French r_s_french@hotmail.com or Bunny Wescott rbwes@aol.com
Water quality monitors – John Wolanski currently leads this group of volunteers that monitor the lake for clarity with secchi disks, temperature, and dissolved oxygen. Members of this group can get trained and certified. If interested contact John at environmental.officer@pantherpondassociation.org
Loon count -The Maine Audubon Society organizes a loon count throughout Maine on the third Saturday in July every year. Volunteers get up early and scan their assigned sectors for signs of loons. If interested contact Linda Howard treasurer@pantherpondassociation.org
